The following is the letter that I sent to my Congressman, the Honorable Ray LaHood. I urge all of you who agree with what I say in the letter to go to the Congressional website, located online at http://www.house.gov and click on the link in the upper left-hand corner that says "Write your Representative" (http://www.house.gov/writerep), follow the short instructions (you will be given an opportunity to quickly find your Zip Code +4, last four digits, which you will need to fill out the form).
Here is my letter:
"I urge you to consider impeachment. Although I believe both Mr. Bush and Mr. Cheney deserve impeachment, I think that at least Cheney should go if only one of them.
I know they will be leaving office soon, but impeachment will show the rest of the world that we are not happy with the current administration's blatant disregard for the Constitution and the checks and balances system, the illegal war of aggression we are engaged in with a country that was never a threat to us and is certainly is not now, and where not only the civilians in that country but OUR OWN SOLDIERS are being exposed to Uranium 238, which is very radioactive and dangerous upon impact. (Depleted uranium rounds and tanks must be recalled and destroyed and the government must help the affected soldiers and the people of Iraq recover from this very real WMD discharged upon them by the United States).
Furthermore, I believe impeachment proceedings should take place because of this administration's having allowed the continued and growing privatization of the war which lead to the Walter Reed scandal and the wealth accumulated by friends of the current White House and the botched raid on Afghanistan which allowed Osama Bin Laden to escape and the botched reaction to the 9/11 catastrophe in which interceptor fighters were not dispatched within the usual 15 minutes but almost two hours after the fact, and the destruction of key evidence from the crime scene at ground zero, and the refusal to organize an independent investigation of the remaining evidence to see exactly why the towers fell like they did and to answer questions raised by the fall of WTC building 7, hours later (which was not hit by a plane at all).
If we refuse to act on this, we are complicit in the breaking of the oath to protect the Constitution from all enemies, foreign and domestic. This will send a very bad message to our allies around the world.
Please consider these Presidential views on the safety of America and Democracy:
"To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public."
- Theodore Roosevelt
"At what point then is the approach of danger to be expected? I answer, if it ever reach us, it must spring up amongst us. It cannot come from abroad. If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of freemen, we must live through all time, or die by suicide."
- Abraham Lincoln, Lyceum Address, January 27th, 1838
Thank you very much for your time and I hope you will find it in the bosom of your heart, for the sake of all that is decent and righteous, to uphold the ideals that we hold dear to us.
Sincerely,
Ted Keylon, citizen.
