> 2/29/08 - WEBSITE, NEW AUCTION, POLITICAL LORE, PAPER PRINTS: Auction Stats, Website Revamping Using Wordpress, Politcal Lore Advertising Agreement, and Sergio Paez Sets Up Carts for New Prints

Things are probably going to be a little crazy here for the next week or so as we prepare to change the site design. First I would like to mention that Sergio is in the final stages of getting his prints ready for auctions. He says he has been very busy lately but he has the photo ready and news on the prints should be coming soon. (Read below about the new Ron Paul painting by Sergio Paez.)

The last auction for  "Return of the Patriot," by Ted Keylon had a reserve price and it has been suggested to me that reserve auctions are not the way to go in this case. We have the Artist's Proofs One and Two of Two paper giclées up for auction, here and here, plus we will be running an auction very soon of the original, the entire profit from which will go to Ron Paul's Congressional Campaign.

I was contacted by the Admin and developer of PoliticalLore.com about upgrading this site and doing some ads. The syncronicity was incredible because I was literally planning on doing just that the day I got his e-mail. Well, we are hammering out our business relationship which will include his redesign of this site and our advertising on his site. The new site will be a WordPress site and you can see the prelaunch developing in progress here:

http://www.thespectra.net/rpp_wordpress

Be sure to read the log entries below for info on the donations from this site and media appearances and many other interesting developments here in the last week and as always,

GO Ron Paul!!

> 2/21/08 - UPDATES, ARTIST FEES, DONATIONS TO RON PAUL, RADIO SHOWS, LIBERTY MANIACS: Auction Results, Final Decision on Artist Fees, Radio Show Appearances, Messages from Artists, T-Shirt Plans, & Link Exchanges

The auction for  "Return of the Patriot," by Ted Keylon has closed and there was one bid and 125 people came through the auction, although the single bid did not reach the reserve price so the print was not sold. The closed auction is here. Until further notice, there will be no more auctions of canvas giclées of this painting, however, we will be running an auction very soon of the original, the entire profit from which will go to Ron Paul's Congressional Campaign.

Sergio Paez will be having giclée prints made very soon. He has contacted our local dealer and has been working on getting a good photo of the painting before shipping it out to its new owner. We will keep you informed as to the progress and availability of these prints. (Read below about the new Ron Paul painting by Sergio Paez.)

After some discussion in various places, though not on the bulletin board directly (even though I have copied it there) people have helped me come up with a final decision on artist fees for being fully represented on this site. You can read the threads here, but the final decision, as noted on the front page, is to charge an artist fee of $10 per month to receive the full treatment with 10% of the sale of prints and a portion of the sale of originals to be donated to Ron Paul, the total donation to be at the discretion of the artist. It is still free to be included in the Coppermine Image gallery and to have a link to your website and a link to your auction. There will be no guarantees that I can keep up with the free links, however, but I will try.

The donation totals have been tallied for all Ron Paul sales from this site so far. This total includes all the auctions, direct sales from the website store and walk-ins at RMD Gallery in Springfield, IL where we are based: $1375.75! It is still being discussed whether this amount will be donated to the presidential or congressional campaigns. There is a thread about it on the bulletin board here, please let us know what you think we should do with the money. This amount will be considerably higher when "Return of the Patriot" original sells as well. (Like Sergio, I will be selling my original for 100% donation to Ron Paul.)

I have donated the total from "Return of the Patriot" giclée prints, which totalled so far at $150.75 to Ron Paul's Congressional campaign at http://www.RonPaulforCongress.com. Just to be certain, here is my confirmation number: T11802-116546293, and just because I am proud to be helping Dr. Paul keep his Congressional seat, here is a screen shot of my name on the Congressional website from 2/21/08 at 11:49 P.M. CST:

The first giclée prints in the series for "Return of the Patriot," are in mid-production. The first few were shipped earlier this week. Images of the production process are in the gallery here.

The prints are available on paper as well at the newly released rates of $85 for 18" X 24", and $125 for 30" X 40". Flat rates for shipping within the U.S. have been set at 18" X 24" in a tube, $10, sent flat, $15, and 30" X 40" in a tube, $20, and sent flat, $30. Check the store for more information on ordering them directly. Soon auctions will begin for the paper giclée prints so stay tuned to the site. Each size will be a different edition of one hundred from the stretched-canvas, starting with two Artist's Proofs, and auctions will begin next week although the Artist's Proofs will be available in the store until then, just go here.

Tuesday, February 19th, 2008, I was invited to be on the Fire Team for Freedom, a show on Ron Paul Radio done by Mike and Jake, two brothers who are also veterans. The subject Tuesday was corporate control of media and I spoke from my perspective in independent media through cable access television, internet and volunteer radio, and multimedia. It was an awesome show. Just after that, I called in to Gina again on Eyes on Truth on Revolution Radio.

I heard from an art student at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago who said he was trying to decide if he should paint Ron Paul. He said our efforts have inspired him to do so and I expect to hear from him when he is done. I cannot wait to have his painting in the gallery.

I also heard from Liberty Maniacs about my request to involve Ron Paul Painting artists in the T-Shirt program. They have a very nice artist royalty plan and they say they are in the process of combining with Zazzle.com to completely expand their project. Stay tuned for more on that as well.

We have two link exchange partners now for the site, Freedom is Popular, a website seller of limited edition prints on paper of Revolutionary War images and classic paintings plus facsimilies of the Constitution and Declaration of Independence, and on the other end of the spectrum, one and only Miss Ron Paul Beauty Pageant, vote today. Thanks to both of these projects for linking to us and supporting Ron Paul.

Lastly, as part of the ongoing promotion effort, a MySpace profile has been created and the address is MySpace.com/RonPaulPainting. If you are on MySpace, friend up with us!

> 2/16/08 - AUCTION RESULTS AND UPDATES, WALK-INS, PRODUCTION PHOTOS: Sergio Paez Original sells for $1225 All going to Ron Paul and Photos of the Production Process

The auction for Sergio Paez ORIGINAL work, "Portait of Ron Paul," has closed and the winning bid was $1225! 1605 people came through the auction with 36 bids, the closed auction is here. Sergio will be having giclée prints made very soon. He has contacted our local dealer and has been working on getting a good photo of the painting before shipping it out to its new owner. We will keep you informed as to the progress and availability of these prints. (Read below about the new Ron Paul painting by Sergio Paez.)

"Return of the Patriot," by Ted Keylon is still running for the week, it has had 37 people come through, there are currently no bids and the opening bid is $50.00. You can see the auction here.

The donation totals have been tallied for all Ron Paul sales from this site so far. This total includes all the auctions, direct sales from the website store and walk-ins at RMD Gallery in Springfield, IL where we are based: $1375.75! Ted at RMD 2/15/08

The first giclée prints in the series for "Return of thePatriot," are in mid-production. Above is a photo of Ted Keylon holding 30" X 40" Artist's Proof One of Two of "Return of the Patriot," in RMD Gallery in Springfield, IL.

Each print is made to order on stretched-canvas which is embellished on the edges by the artist, creating a gallery wrap suitable for hanging without a frame (but you could have a frame if you wanted of course).

The prints are available on paper as well at the newly released rates of $85 for 18" X 24", and $125 for 30" X 40".

There has been some interest from artists who paint Ron Paul about being represented on this site. I am considering charging nothing for originals the profit from which is totally donated to Ron Paul, but 20% from the profit of each print, half of which I wilI also donate to Ron Paul and the rest will go to costs for this site including advertising. I have started a thread about this on the bulletin board if you would like to leave your opinion about the matter. The thread is here.

> 2/14/08 - DONATION TOTALS, PAPER RATES & RELISTING: "Return of the Patriot," by Ted Keylon Relisted, Current Donation Totals Have Been Tallied, and Paper Giclée Rates Have Been Determined

I have been advised by some close associates to go ahead and relist "Return of the Patriot," by Ted Keylon due to the fact that a lot of people end up missing auctions because of work or they forget when the auction ends. With that in mind I am runnning this relisting for seven days this time around. The new listing, for First Edition Three of One Hundred, can be viewed here. Other giclée prints from the First Edition can be purchased directly at any time in the store.

Sergio Paez still has a running auction for his ORIGINAL painting of Ron Paul plus he still plans to sell giclées of it very soon. His latest auction is here. He still has 31 bids, the total is $1036.00 with 1454 people having visited the auction page at the time of this writing. (Read below about the new Ron Paul painting by Sergio Paez.)

The donation totals have been tallied for all Ron Paul sales from this site so far. It is still being discussed whether this amount will be donated to the presidential or congressional campaigns. After Sergio's original sells, this amount will be considerably higher as it will be when "Return of the Patriot" original sells as well. (Like Sergio, I will be selling my original for 100% donation to Ron Paul.)

As I stated in the last log entries, there have also been questions about printing on paper instead of canvas. These questions usually come from those who love the artwork but still cannot afford the giclées on stretched-canvas. We have determined rates for the paper giclées as follows: 18" X 24" will be $85 and 30" X 40" will be $125. Each size will be a different edition of one hundred from the stretched-canvas, starting with two Artist's Proofs, and auctions will begin next week although the Artist's Proofs will be available in the store until then, just go here.

> 2/13/08 - AUCTION UPDATES: "Portrait of Ron Paul," by Sergio Paez and "Return of the Patriot," by Ted Keylon, RonPaulPainting.com on the Philo-Sophia show on Revolution Radio

One auction has ended and one is still current. Apparently the demand for another auction of "Return," by Ted Keylon was not as great as indicated. I put the auction up earlier than I was going to because of messages I received but the auction failed to receive any bids. At the close of the auction, there were 4 watchers and 333 people had come through the auction page, but no bidders so the auction closed unsold. That closed auction can be viewed here. There are sixty days left in which the auction can be relisted. At this time it is not decided when another auction will run of "Return of the Patriot," however if anyone is interested giclée prints from the First Edition can be purchased directly at any time in the store.

Sergio Paez still has a running auction for his ORIGINAL painting of Ron Paul plus he still plans to sell giclées of it very soon. His latest auction is here. He currently has had 31 bids bringing the total up to $1036.00 with 1367 people having visited the auction page at the time of this writing. (Read below about the new Ron Paul painting by Sergio Paez.)

Philo-Sophia, Revolution Radio

Revolution Radio's show, Eyes on Truth, hosted by Gina Lockhart, A.K.A. Philo-Sophia, took a call from RonPaulPainting.com last Sunday, February 10th. The painting by Sergio Paez and its meteoric auction was discussed. At that point this site was at an all time high on TopRonPaulSites.com where we got up to 31 out of the top fifty sites with a daily visitor count of over 80 people!

There has been some interest from artists who paint Ron Paul about being represented on this site. I have started a thread about this on the bulletin board if you would like to leave your opinion about the matter. The thread is here.

There have also been questions about printing on paper instead of canvas. These questions usually come from those who love the artwork but still cannot afford the giclées on stretched-canvas. Although the gallery does this all the time, the rates have to be calculated and fixed for our artists and this affects the reserve amounts and cost itself, but I do know it will be in the ball park of 50% what the cost on canvas is. We will have those rates determined by next week. Stay tuned.

> 2/9/08 - AUCTIONS & ARTIST SERVICES: Due to Popular Demand Another "Return of the Patriot," Auction Goes Up, Sergio Paez Original for Auction, Artist Services, Paper or Canvas, Presidential or Congressional Donations, and MySpace

The demand for another auction has been overwhelming. Many potential buyers sent me messages that they did not mean to miss my last auction and have been asking when the next auction will go up so I have decided to run another auction for "Return of the Patriot," here, just for the weekend. Sergio Paez has decided to run another auction for his ORIGINAL painting of Ron Paul plus he still plans to sell giclées of it very soon. His latest auction is here. (Read below about the new Ron Paul painting by Sergio Paez.)

There has been more interest from artists who paint Ron Paul about being represented on this site than what I expected. They are asking what my costs are for such a service. To be honest, I hadn't thought of charging, but when I began to realize the interest was there and how much extra work it could be keeping track of auctions to link here, hosting, editing, promoting, and in some cases coordinating giclée printing services and shipping through my local dealer, RMD Gallery, I realized that a reasonable fee will have to be applied. That fee could also be applied in turn to advertising for this site which then helps all the artists who would be here at the same time, the more artists, the better the advertising (and the promotion of Ron Paul's message). The question is, what would be a reasonable amount? I have started a thread about this on the bulletin board if you would like to leave your opinion about the matter. The thread is here.

There have also been questions about printing on paper instead of canvas. These questions usually come from those who love the artwork but still cannot afford the giclées on stretched-canvas. Although the gallery does this all the time, the rates have to be calculated and fixed for our artists and this affects the reserve amounts and cost itself, but I do know it will be in the ball park of 50% what the cost on canvas is. We will have those rates determined by next week. Stay tuned.

As far as the Ron Paul campaign for President goes, I was a little bit saddened by the realization in the latest letter from Ron Paul he says his feelings are that a brokered convention is not possible now that Romney has left the race. Also he mentions his Congressional campaign. Since I am at a stage where the 33% to the campaign from "Return of the Patriot,"is yet to be calculated from the profit, which should happen after the first shipment goes out Monday, I am considering donating to the Congressional seat instead. Again I have a bulletin board thread about this, please let me know what you think. That thread is here. Other artists on the site donate as they see fit; currently there is no blanket donation policy for everyone here.

Lastly, as part of the ongoing promotion effort, a MySpace profile has been created and the address is MySpace.com/RonPaulPainting. If you are on MySpace, friend up with us! I have posted a bLog entry there about my first reaction to Ron's latest letter.

> 2/7/08 - WEBSITE: Mass Updates All Around!

The website has received mass updates on nearly every page. I think we are close to needing a Content Management System but not quite yet. Read below about the new Ron Paul painting by Sergio Paez.

Also remember we have taken a pause on auctions for the First Edition giclées of "Return of the Patriot," while we concentrate on getting the current orders out. Also Sergio is settling arrangements to make giclée prints as well and we will have the links to the auctions and rates for those as soon as they come in.

Please send any information, questions, or suggestions to eted[at]thespectra[dot]net. (Alternate contact info available at www.TedKeylon.com )

NOTE: 1st Edition One of One Hundred 18" X 24" Return of the Patriot has been purchased directly. The continuation of auctions for the First Edition will commence after the first round of orders is completed.

> 2/6/08 - AUCTION & WEBSITE: "Return of the Patriot," Giclée 18" X 24" 1st Edition 2 of 100 Sells with Only One Bid, Two Newly Discovered Ron Paul Paintings!

The last auction for "Return of the Patriot" has ended with a final bid of only $40.00. This is a huge dip from what they were going for. There were 5 watchers and a total of 124 people came through, 20 came through within the last hour but the bid still remained at the starting point. You can view the results here.

Perhaps this is because of Super Tuesday. I don't think we should give up on this movement, however. I have read reports that there may be a brokered convention and also that no matter what happened yesterday, no candidate has it mathematically sewn up yet. None-the-less I will definately have to wait before posting 1st Edition One of One Hundred which I was going to offer at a higher starting bid because the first in an edition is always considered the most valuable of the edition. I have decided to wait until all orders have been shipped and the profits have been tallied before running that auction. Keep visiting this website to stay updated on when that auction will go up.

Sergio Paez
Sergio Paez of San Fransisco standing next to his new Portrait of Ron Paul

In the meantime, I have discovered a painter from San Fransisco, Sergio Paez, who has painted a wonderful portrait of Ron Paul which we will be featuring on this site. His first auction started at $200 but had no bidders, you can see the auction results here. He is currently having giclée prints made and will be running more auctions very soon which we will track on this website so stay tuned for more on that as well as more giclées of my painting, "Return of the Patriot." Both paintings can be seen in our gallery here.

There is also another wonderful Ron Paul painting in our gallery that was sent to us from one of the meetup groups in Illinois. No one seems to know who the artist is, however, so if anyone knows please help us get in contact with them by contacting us here at the site.

Please send any information, questions, or suggestions to eted[at]thespectra[dot]net. (Alternate contact info available at www.TedKeylon.com )
