BLAME IT ON AMISH IN THE CITY:

I apologize if I offend any Amish people or people who think that jokes about people who don't believe in electricity are funny.  Or that Kingpin was not a truly great flick.  But see, it all started with the Eastside Tavern (again) birthday party when Nolle decided that in honor of Mose Gingerich supposedly moving to Jefferson City, MO...and the debate about whether he's really Amish or not--yes, that's what we do in the Show Me State...we debate the fate of bad reality TV concept personalities fates--that he would try to pick up chicks at the bar by masquerading as a naive Amish kid...

Turns out the joke was in really bad taste...and he kept asking girls if they wanted to go on an "Amish Date" with him...i.e.: to church on Sunday.  Needless to say, he didn't pick up any girls...especially when he kept repeating, "I'm AMISH!" in a very high-pitch Eric sort of way, over and over...with a beer in one hand and a cig in the other.  Occasionally we wonder about Nolle.

So what does that have to do with my week, this week...well Huffman and I are going on our first official "Amish Date" this weekend.  My boss does all the tech and AV stuff for a huge church here in town, and they are having a weekend extravaganza multi-media art-show thing.  Since we all try to support each other in our outside of space endeavors...yes Huffman, I and all of our creepy degenerate friends will be making our way down to the church and trying not to scare the congregation too bad.  Be afraid, be very afraid.

Tonight, though I am going out to see Huffman's band Midwest Murder Society play the Como Music birthday party at Shattered....see a trend yet?  [Huffman is a stage-hog and is the official birthday band of every venue in town, & I think Columbia, MO is the coolest thing since spray-cheese and electric pencils.]  Everyone should check out http://www.comomusic.com to see a really nifty set-up for the local music scene here in Columbia, MO!  But, when you think of the low cost of living and all the cool stuff that rolls through the Midwest, I am more and more glad that I can do what I do outside of LA/NY....though that would be fun--all the glitter and excitement I am missing, ha ha.

And that is why we are heading to CMJ...

Nothing like a trip to see the big city!!  (This is like my billionth CMJ and trip to NY...and I have never done anything remotely typical, like go see the statue of liberty...though I do know the inside and outside of every club in NYC at this point...)

BTW, you are welcome to come hang with Huffman to The Today Show or TRL.  We decided that we were going to do sickeningly touristy things, make signs, stand outside the glass window, try to get on national TV...by any means necessary...make jokes about Al Roker, and make our parents proud!?

I <heart> NY.

Transmission out!
