Hey Everyone!
The email is a little early this week because, sadly I will be out of town Thursday 11/06, until Monday 11/10. (I have a plane ticket back for Sunday night!) Unfortunately, I have to go back to Texas to have surgery Friday morning...so I probably won't get a chance to talk to some of you guys this week--I tried to put it off until X-mas, but no va.
Hopefully everything will go spiffy, and I'll be back in black on Monday--if not, please be nice to my co-workers and take good care of my records, for a couple more days till I recover! (You know the drill.)IN THIS ISSUE OF THE 380 WEEKLY:

RACHEL STAMP!! GET STAMPING NOW!!
RACHEL STAMP, Oceans of Venus, Captiva Records
Yeah, that line was cheesy, I know...OK guys, here's the smack: this record is really cool and retro-fabulous fun, and we came very close to cracking onto the Top 200 last week--I was hoping for a good strong debut last week, and to be honest, I was a little sagged when we fell a few stations short...like I said before, it is a personal goal of mine to ultra kick-ass on the chart with this one, since I really do believe it is a solid college album, and deserves to make the ranks! I wish I had more to offer you guys--but all I have for you right now is a good record, and my sparkling personality! (I will though have VERY LIMITED tickets soon for Rachel Stamp/Pigface/Dope/PMM on the UNIITED Tour...so do let me know if you are interested seeing the show! More on tour details...in the "Tour This" section!)
And yes, I realize that it has been totally, "REVENGE OF THE RACHEL'S" on your play lists lately--I've counted like at least 5 Rachel titled records that are all out right now! (What kind of freak Karma is that?!) Anyhow, like I have said before to a nauseating degree, I really think this band can do something at CMJ, and is relevant to what's out there right now! I TOTALLY THINK THIS BAND IS CHART-WORTHY, SO PLEASE DON'T FORGET THEM!! AND BE SURE TO GET THIS RECORD GOING THIS WEEK IF YOU HAVEN'T REVIEWED IT YET--AND MAKE SURE IT IS AVAILABLE FOR YOUR DJS!!!BURGESS SHALE, IT'S NEVER ENOUGH, IS IT?
These guys are so wacky and political, I love them! (This album has totally grown on me, and been really fun to work--thank you to everyone who gave me a one-liner to describe Burgess Shale!) The more that I have worked with Brian, the lead singer and ring master of Burgess Shale, the more I think he's the coolest guy. This is not a record for the meek, it takes a bit to get into, and you have to actually listen to it a couple of times to really appreciate it. It is totally a throw-back to the late sixties, Height-Asbury socially conscious rock--Power to the people!GERBRAUCHE-MUSIK PRECURSOR
OK, this one is a special mention, in the Nina file for the College Weekly Email. Very few people at College Radio got a copy of the new G-W, (40 of you to be exact.)--It was pretty much an exclusively RPM mailing! So if you got a copy for yourself--MDs that aren't afraid to EBM-it up in reg rotation, please listen to it, get it available for the DJs, and let me know what you think! ***CURRENT SPACE 380 INITIATIVES***

***DIARY OF A TEXAS GIRL LOST IN THE MIDWEST***
Wow, my little section feels really far away today...
Halloween: Ah, yes, the best costume I saw was this guy who ran up and down Broadway dressed as a giant 6X6ft thatch hedge! I ended up going as a trashy seventies chick--since it fit in with my night. (Actually, I couldn't find the elastic to put up both my pigtails, so I went out with one bad "Chrissy Snow" pigtail.)
Now I present you a possibly cred-losing Halloween tale:
...but I don't care, 'cause all I wanna do now is Party Hard!!!
As anyone who has talked to me in the past 3 days knows, I have officially been A.W.Kimilated.
(Yes, it is true, I officially think Andrew W.K. is the coolest thing since caramel flan.)
I saw him at the KCOU Birthday Bash/Halloween party here in Columbia! (Seriously, it is the best show I've seen in years--supposedly the band thought it was one of their best gigs to date!) The *ENTIRE* crowd was pogo-ing, singing, surfing, and the energy and movement didn't let up for one minute. (If you've ever been to the Blue Note, you know that it is a pretty big venue--It use to be a Vaudeville theatre! There were points where there were so many people on stage, that you couldn't see the band! This 14 year-old kid, experienced his first crowd-surf and live concert, a piñata was destroyed...and they even played a special version of "I Love NYC," where they changed it to "I Love Halloween!" (And all of the people that went as Mr. W.K. got up on stage and sang a song with, him announcing that he went as them for Halloween, how cute.) The bouncers of the Blue Note looked like they were going to hurl every moment of the show...it was pure unadulterated rock n' roll high school fun!
Then to top it all off the guy is freakin' nicer than nice! He kicked it outside, took pics, and signed everyone's stuff while sitting on a cement ledge near the tour bus in the freezing cold until 4AM! And the signatures, weren't the usual scribble--the guy wrote a personalized paragraph for everyone. (If my photo turns out, Gideon may have some comp. fro my Friendster photo.) Then to top it all off the band offered to get everyone that stuck around outside the bus afterwards into the Springfield, MO show for free--and even agreed to go eat this guy's grandma's pies she baked especially for A.W.K. & Co., and hangout with the kids from Springfield while they were in town the next day...and they let the girl who's friend landed in jail borrow a cell phone to call and check on him...and the list goes on...
Seriously, I was amazed, and totally wish more entertainers had his gift of making the audience feel like the stars...it was pretty darn amazing! If you haven't already, you have to check this guy's show out at least once...Transmission out.
