SP SHOW REVIEW:
Skinny puppy: I've been waiting to see them for years. probably since 91 or 92. Another one of the bands I always wanted to see in high school, but they broke up before I got to see them.
This incarnation was Nivek Ogre and cEvin Key, [The original founding members--SP was originally a duo before the late-great Dwayne Goettel joined the band.], plus two others. [Bill Morrison on guitar, and Justin from Professional Murder Music on Drums.] Ogre came out in a mummy pterodactyl-looking suit with a heck of a lot of fake blood everywhere. There were TVs set up all over the back of the stage and camera on the stage that they flipped to (when not showing pictures of 3D animation or pictures of blown up bodies). In-between songs, there were buckets of blood and blood-filled sports bottles off stage for ogre to cover himself in blood again. At one point, he spat fake-blood all over my girlfriend. [Shown in the pictures.]
Skinny Puppy started off with a bunch of new tracks, which Ogre danced around all weird too. Then starting with the 5th song, they played a bunch of old songs--and then only a few other new ones. Stripping off the mummy-pterodactyl top, ogre started acting more like the older Puppy videos I've seen...even complaining about how long it took to take off the fake blood. They played Inquisition, Tin Omen, Spahn Dirge, and one other older puppy tune that I can't place at the moment. It was also great to see 300 other people all re-living their childhoods, and singing along with the jaded-youth anthems. After 1 1/2 hrs of playing, they left the stage... but only for a minute. Skinny Puppy then came back and played two more older tracks for the encore: Assimilate and Testure.

June 27: Houston, Verizon Theater

***DIARY OF A TEXAS GIRL LOST IN THE MIDWEST***
This week has been pretty rockin' all around, except that I really need some sleep. First I missed my exit on the way to work, and then the street that my work is on, and I had to go back into my apartment 3 times to get stuff I needed...the best total example of my sleep-dep and goldfish like memory is that yesterday morning. When I was drinking my strawberry protein-shake in a can, (which I drink every morning since I don't get up early enough for a real breakfast.), I accidentally opened it, forgot I opened it, and then tried to shake it. Needless to say, I was then covered in pink goo and it was only 9 AM. Huffman came with a roll of paper towels and saved me and all was well in the Space once again--what a way to start the morning...
Like many weeks when there isn't a good focus story, I turn to my lovely co-workers
for inspiration...
So I am proud to announce that Huffman and Josh have started an Eagles of Death
Metal rip-off band, with a Carpenter's (for the ladies) meets T-Rex in a White
Castle kind of sound. Their tentative band name is The Creed Quest Rejects...but
they are still open to suggestions, since they have yet to have a real practice.
(Anyone, anyone?) But they do have "a song" called, "Keep me
guessing." Huffman also wants to know what it means that he can't pick
up chicks when he goes out with his friends....
In other news Shanti got a part-time gig at Jimmy John's (Subs so fast you'll
freak.) and we are all hoping that means we might not all starve to death.
Transmission out!
